The Unification - Jaya & Su Mei Church Wedding

This is one of a unique wedding where my assignment was in fact a gift from Su Mei's brother Soo Aun. There was one day Su Mei was looking at my pictures when told Soo Aun that it will be nice to have me for her wedding day, and Soo Aun contacted me personally over email and wanted to engage my service as a surprise gift to Su Mei. And during Su Mei's birthday, we created a small little 4R photo frame, saying congratulations, where Jaya and Su Mei will have a date with Dennis Yap on their wedding day. Jaya and Su Mei met up with me and I found that this couple is really very natural and just understood what I have to offer in their wedding day. During the day, we just being there to cover this unique day of theirs.

After a while after we delivered the pictures to Su Mei, one day, I received a hand written letter mailed over to our studio, and I found that it was by Su Mei herself. Inside her letter she described a lot about their relationship and those little things that they had gone through. For that moment I felt so touched to be able to be part of this special day in their life. And so I wrote back in email to Su Mei, unknowing what to say to Su Mei, and ended with a few words "Thank You". I guess that the best few sentence that I wanted to say, nothing much, but both of us had built a unique personal relationship with each other. That was one of the most rewarded assignment that I have ever received. Thank you Su Mei once again.

Love Amber - Eugene & Joan Pre-Wedding in Kyoto, Japan

Met this two busy couple during a wedding fair sponsored by Canon Malaysia, I guess they are one of the most lucky couple ever, while engaging our services they got a free wedding day coordination sponsored by Marvellous by Jeff Weddings, later they won a free couple video shoot by Moments by Gary Ngui, I guess they got most free. It was a lovely sunny day, we managed to capture a beautiful sunrise over the zen looking lake in Kyoto. I still remember they had so much to discuss over the wedding shoot and Joan always contact me after 10pm after working hours lol. I believe this couple had a lot to express by looking at Eugene's eyes. A long term relationship that was long enough that words is simply unable to express by itself. During the pre-wedding shooting, Joan had a serius back pain issue which we tried our best to make the pre-wedding shoot as simply and natural as possible. During the make up session, we get to know that Eugene's father was actually my dad's school mate, and Eugene's dad sent a message in my dad's facebook about the coincidence. Well I guess the world is really small. Later Eugene and Joan engaged one of our photographer Kevin Tan for their wedding day. Awaiting us to show case our work that expresses their heart one by one. Thanks Eugene and Joan for your patience, it was a memorable journey.

The Hidden Treasure - Jerry & Carmen Pre-Wedding in Kyoto, Japan

Jerry & Carmen is not stranger as Carmen actually had attended all of our photography workshops. And before that I actually met Carmen long time back during my assignment in Singapore. And one day Carmen had called me up and so we all met up in a small little cafe in Bangsar and in the end they booked us for all of their wedding occasion from pre-wedding to couple portrait in their high school and to wedding day, and I was honoured to secretly shot Jerry's personal picture for his proposal. To me, this couple is fantastic, they were very nice and sincere, it is very easy to mix around. They are one of the most considerate couples in the list. While getting to know them a little more, both Jerry and Carmen had actually gone through a long term relationship since high school, where Jerry used to deliver lunch box for Carmen in school. However, Carmen's background was also unique, with many stories to tell and many stories were known between me and them only, it is a very personal relationship. Since both of them had booked me for all occasions, I planned to make each session a different one with unique stories and concentrations. There are simply too many stories to tell and so I broken them up to a few pieces and this pre-wedding we had is one of them. For this pre-wedding session, I made it a little serene, not so much concentration on the Japanese theme itself but the ideals that inflicted within them during the shoot. Things that is balanced, equal and calming. Something for the future of their relationship and for many years to come. In Carmen's eyes, Jerry is a great gentleman with great patience and understanding, while in Jerry's perspective, Carmen is the one that he can give up anything for.

Carmen was working in a foreign exchange company holding quite a high position and she was inspired by my vision and she had also quit her job and started her own wedding planning services, I was surprised and still could not believe that she made such a move but I guess she wanted to pursue a different venture.

A day before the shoot, we just hang around with each other, visited many places around Kyoto, just to have fun and enjoy the day, it was quite a relaxing day and they were very nice that they have taken care of us in many ways. Even during the shooting day, we all did not feel pressure at all, we just enjoy the nice weather just treat the day out the most memorable day ever. Too bad we did not intend to cover the red gates as Carmen said that it look very scary hehe. And now awaiting to cover their school day portrait soon, that was the place where everything started.

Saying Yes - Jone & Ferng ROM in JPN Ipoh

Jone and Ferng is not stranger, if you have read the blog, they were our couple in the recent Bali Pre-Wedding. Right after the pre-wedding session we have been chatting since and they had also enquire about my other pre-wedding destinations, I guess they are addicted to being shoot. And we found this little opportunity where they are having a small ROM in JPN Ipoh, they asked if there are anything to be shot there and I said there must be something that I can shoot LOL. And so I travelled all the way to ipoh, my hometown, to cover their small little ROM session and going back home on the same day.

Jone's mom is a unique mom where she kept her beauty pretty well, and there was one time Ferng was telling me that she feel stressful because his mom was the miss Ipoh a while ago. And finally get to see his mom and she just looked like a 30 year old lady. Did a few shots right after the ROM, I did not mind much as I go there just to kill some time and have some fun with them, so we went to this cool little cafe for some shots again, and they were all very energetic, I was almost collapsed LOL from the alcohol consumed that afternoon. They were such a good drinker, well so am I but I don't drink much. I intentionally post a picture where we were drinking to show how funny these people were. Thanks to Jone and Ferng for everything, I am able to recall back our old memories back in Bali that day, where we all had 40 bottles of beer a day before the shooting day and we forgot to pay the bills. Yeah, what an experience.

A Long Journey - Eddie & Joanne Wedding Day

This is another wedding handled by a friend of mine Agnes from Favors Essence. We met up in Le Petit Studio before the wedding day together with Agnes and Eddie is such a funny guy and it ended with many laughters. Both of them had actually gone through a very long relationship together, yes and we did many couples with long term relationships. Usually couples with long term relationships are outwardly cool but inertly warm. During the wedding day, Joanne had her make up done in Cyberlodge, a wonderful occasion and found out that one of my old friend was in the wedding, and she was pregnant hehe. It was a typical gate crash with bunch of angry girls with ambitious guys. But one of the moments I am able to recall was when Eddie was made to sing to Joanne outside the door, and the way he sing the song was very comforting, it was a funny song but I guess there was a lot of sweetness in there. Joanne heard the song and she cried. And Eddie was made to eat a piece of durian which he never willing to stuck a piece in his mouth in real life, and he did. In the end of the wedding, there comes the wedding dinner, nicely set up by Agnes, this time it is a sakura theme. And I kind of like the Sakura theme because its all in cold colours. The whole set up was filled with blue and the pictures turned out pretty rejoicing, something different. Many thanks to Agnes and the team, and Eddie and Joanne as well. Before I end this blog post, Eddie, if you see this, your cup that you purchased in Empire is still in my studio, please come to pick it up. Hehe.

Looking for a beautiful sunrise - Rob & Chuen Pre-Wedding

Rob and Chuen met each other in the States, this is really a handsome and pretty match where Rob is a American born taiwanese and Chuen is from Malaysia. Though I know Chuen speaks manderine but she seldom use it, you know what I mean hehe. There are many romance within Rob and Chuen and whenever I see Chuen, I just love the way she smiles, it reminds me of a famous cartoon character Mashimaro, her eyes smile  together. Rob loves the shape of the mosque and Chuen loves the sunrise I created and so we went for the combination. We did not do the traditional type of pre-wedding but instead we did a beloved session with them and the emotions just flow all the way. There are tiny little actions from Rob which is so sweet to be captured and love to see the softer part of Chuen, summiting towards Rob. And thats about it, a wonderful morning in Putrajaya.

Sweet Companion - Adrian & Debbie Wedding Day

Met up with Adrian and Debbie a couple of times before the wedding day, they were two very excited couple. I always gave them a smile when I see them, simply because Debbie is simply too cute! I guess any friend that knew Debbie will be able to know that, as a single child, lovely family, and the way and the tone that she speaks sounds like a small little girl talking to you. Both Adrian and Debbie had been together for many years. Debbie's dad love her so much which is so sinful without asking them to have a family photo with them hugging Debbie together. And I can still recall Adrian's dad, who is a body builder and young looking. There are simply many love ad built into the slideshow for that night, which celebrates the love for Adrian and Debbie. Which is just one word, lovely.

Natural Caused - Jin Wei & Ai Ting Wedding Day

Jin Wei & Ai Ting are both working in the UK, when we met up before the wedding day, Jin Wei and Ai Ting wanted all shots to be candid without any poses and such, and I agreed which I normally does but this time is all candid, so all I did was shooting behind the scene and let the flow goes naturally. I fully understand what they expect because we cherish what is going to happen during the wedding day and those natural caused is to be captured so that memories can be eternal. I surely do not like to ask people to repeat what they do and to act upon what they do, and also, to relocate the location and redoing what was happening for better shots. To me, there are values for where the incident is happening, the time, the person, the gesture, and the action. Yes it is harder to shoot candid than posed moments, hard things always have a challenge and always have to compensate to beauty, but the value is there. Thanks Jin Wei and Ai Ting, hope to meet you both again someday in UK.

An Emotional Journey - Keen & Lydia Wedding Reception in Saufiville Janda Baik

Keen and Lydia are one of the nice couples too! I told my friends that I am very fortunate to meet many nice couples in town, at least they made my job so meaningful and priceless. When I met Lydia on her wedding reception, she sincerely thank me for able to be her wedding photographer and she felt very fortunate to have me. Guess what, I felt the pressure immense within me right at the moment lol. And her friends seemed to know about me and came over to discuss about photography by saying "Dennis, I know you take nice pictures." and again, I felt that pressure again lol. Both of them are actually from Singapore and decided to have their special moment celebrated in this rare occasion in Saufiville Janda Baik. This is indeed a unique location, before you reach this place, you hardly know that there is such place in here, which I have to go through a narrow rocky road, unpaved, some bumpy ride in order to reach here. Both of them enjoyed the mountain view here. While parents were arranging their decorations they asked why would they want to have their special day here, I gave them a smile and told them because it is special. I really love to cover rare location like this one, small group, with close friends and families, simply many moments to share and at least able to mingle around and enjoy together with them. It was a blessed day with nice weather. Really wish to meet up with them again someday.
